VPN for Iran: why most VPNs drop — and what to use instead
If you're in Iran, you already know the routine: a VPN works for a day, then stops. The next one lasts an hour. Free VPNs from app stores are full of ads, painfully slow, and often unsafe.
The reason is not bad luck. Iran's networks use some of the most advanced VPN filtering in the world.
How VPNs get blocked in Iran
Iranian providers use DPI (deep packet inspection) to recognise VPN protocols by the shape of their traffic — not by reading your data.
- OpenVPN and WireGuard have recognisable handshakes and are blocked quickly.
- IPsec / L2TP are blocked almost everywhere.
- Many proxies, including some Shadowsocks and V2Ray setups, are detected over time through traffic patterns or by probing the server.
- Mobile networks are often filtered harder than home internet.
Sometimes the whole international connection is restricted or shut down. No VPN can work during a full internet shutdown — anyone who promises otherwise is not telling the truth.
What Oxyn does differently
- Own protocol — not OpenVPN, not WireGuard, so the standard filters don't recognise it.
- Runs over TCP port 443 and is designed to look like ordinary HTTPS — the kind of traffic that can't be blocked without breaking normal websites.
- Leak protection — DNS and IPv6 requests don't leak outside the tunnel.
- No VPN activity logs.
- Servers in five countries, all included.
- Native apps for Android, Windows and Linux. iPhone and Mac via the Happ client.
Paying from Iran
International cards don't work in Iran — we know. You can pay with crypto (USDT, BNB and others), right in the app or your dashboard. And you don't need to pay at all to start: 15 days and 30 GB free, just an email.
Getting the app if our site is blocked
- Android: the APK is on our GitHub releases page.
- Tor Browser: our site has a Tor mirror —

Stay safe
Rules about VPN use in Iran change and are enforced unevenly. Know your local situation. Oxyn protects your traffic from your provider, but it is not an anonymity tool — if you need maximum anonymity, use Tor.
FAQ
Will Oxyn work on Irancell / MCI / home internet?
It's built for exactly these networks, but the only real test is yours. Try it free for 15 days.
Why does every VPN I try drop after a few minutes?
The network recognises the protocol and starts cutting or throttling it. Oxyn uses its own protocol designed to look like normal HTTPS.
Can I pay without a foreign card?
Yes — crypto (USDT, BNB and others).
Is there a Persian version?
Coming soon.
