- Windows (PowerShell):
certutil -hashfile oxyn-vpn-1.0.31-windows-setup.exe SHA256 - Linux:
sha256sum oxyn-vpn-1.0.31-linux.bin - Android (APK на компьютере):
certutil -hashfile oxyn-vpn-1.0.9.apk SHA256
Is it safe?
Checking an installer before you run it is normal and easy. Here are four ways to do it.
1. Compare the checksum (SHA-256)
A checksum is a file's fingerprint: if even one byte changes, the checksum changes. Current checksums are always visible in our update manifest (updated automatically with every release):
Commands to verify:
- Windows (PowerShell):
certutil -hashfile oxyn-vpn-1.0.31-windows-setup.exe SHA256 - Linux:
sha256sum oxyn-vpn-1.0.31-linux.bin - Android (APK on a computer):
certutil -hashfile oxyn-vpn-1.0.9.apk SHA256
The version number in the file name may differ — use the name of the file you downloaded. The resulting string should match the checksum above.
2. Scan it on VirusTotal
Upload the file you downloaded to virustotal.com — a free service that scans a file with dozens of antivirus engines at once.
3. Official releases on GitHub
Every installer is published on our GitHub Releases page together with its SHA-256 checksum — the same files as on the website. A new version may appear there with a short delay; for a just-released version, compare against the checksum on this page.
4. Windows and Android install warnings
Windows SmartScreen may show "Unrecognized app" — expected for software not from the Microsoft Store, not a sign of a problem with the file. Click "More info" → "Run anyway".
Android Play Protect may show a warning — expected for apps not installed from Google Play. Tap "Install anyway".
